push it back, push it back, waaaayyyyy back

July 7, 2008 · No Comments

so the world will not be introduced to me as soon as i thought it would. if youve been to celise’s site today then you know the bummer news.

my story wont be released into the world until april 2010.

damn, damn and double dog damn.

im so totally bummed. im trying to understand where shes coming from, but im still sad. and bummed.

i was looking forward to the book release party. spa themed. i was looking forward to getting a massage.

guess thats gonna have to wait until 2010. gawd! that sounds so far away.

the only consolation she can give me is that book two might be released that same year, but in october.

that wud be cool. i guess.

but im still bummed.

how much for that kid on the street

June 25, 2008 · No Comments

i know it seems like my posts are nothing but news headlines, but seriously, i have nothing else to talk about. revisions for book one are done–for the time being–so i cant harass celise about that anymore. its not like i can help her find the right editor, either. so its come down to posting about what i see in yahoo headlines and putting in my 2 cents.

this latest headline about child prostitution caught my eye because well, it’s hard to bypass something that says “345 arrested, kids rescued in prostitution busts.”

what’s worse? one of the cities they hit was phoenix. 345 is a lot. i want to know how many of those were here.

what’s even worser? it’s not a word, i know. shut up. what’s even worser is that they targeted street kids. what better victims, right? nowhere to go and the promise of shelter turns into forced prostitution. im so sickened by this.

433 kids on the street. thats a lot of homeless kids. and how many of those do you think are runaway foster kids? or kids who got kicked out of their home for being pregnant, gay, lesbian? or who left home because theyd been physically abused? or left home because they just “couldn’t take it”?

shit like this just blows my mind.

whitney houston was right, y’know. we really are the future. so why aren’t we being taken care of?

and i said “no, no, no”

June 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

so, its crazy whats happening to amy winehouse right now, isnt it? emphysema. thats like, an old people disease, isn’t it?

24 yrs old with early stage emphysema. 70% breathing capacity. thats utterly crazy. when i heard that, my mouth dropped open.

and then i remembered hearing about the drug abuse and thought “oh, well, that makes sense.”

that group nickelback has that song “rockstar” and one of the lyrics is about having the drug dealer on speed dial. i, who normally listens to oldies, actually like that song. it really tests your capacity for  breathing. yeah, pun intended.

but what he says is true and i dont understand why all these famous movie stars and musicians, who have it all, feel the need to fuck up their life with drugs.

why would you fuck up your long, hard-worked dream with drugs? or alcohol?

you wanted this life. you wanted to be a rockstar or an actor/actress. you knew what was bound to happen if your career took off. if you cant handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen. and go back to waiting tables, selling insurance, or whatever the hell you did before getting discovered.

there are some of us who would kill to be in amy’s shoes. or heath’s shoes. and we’ll never get the chance.

id like to think that for every famous person who dies, there will be someone else to eventually take their place. and learn from their mistakes.

note to self: operating a neighborhood lemonade stand really isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

i have to agree with fred, that’s really low. the dude must’ve been desparate.

done’n'done

June 3, 2008 · 2 Comments

she hasnt posted it yet but celise is DONE DONE DONE with revisions! WAHOOO! and she did it one day before deadline! WOOT, WOOT! this is only the first round though. there could be more, she says. who frickin’ cares. she got thru revisions without tossing her laptop out the window (like she would ever do that anyway, but still…)

of course, she might want to do it when she gets the second report.

but compared to how she reacted when she got the results the first time, this is good. now, all she has to do is type up the rest. she still hasnt done that. yet.

have i mentioned that her middle name is procrastination? no? well, it is. she would freely admit that and i wouldnt get in trouble for sayin’ it.

while its at the editor, shes going to start looking for some “readers” to review her book. and not just any readers, either. she wants teen readers, ages 13-18. so, if u kiss her butt  offer up something real nice for her birthday (it’s on thursday), maybe shell choose you.

jk, celise. dont get ur hanes in a hissy.

seriously though. i dont know when shes going to start trolling the streets internet–i meant to say internet. for real–for readers, but if you think you might be interested (you might have to jump thru some hoops and get a note from your mama follow some rules), holla at my gurl.

pretty is as pretty does

May 28, 2008 · 4 Comments

i was browsing Yahoo tonite and found this online article from elle magazine about why pretty isn’t always sexy. its a 4 page article, but id be interested in your comments once you read it. i couldn’t help but think “too bad not all guys get this”. some parents tell their kids “youre beautiful just as you are” but society dictates that we cant be beautiful if we dont have double d boobs, weigh 98 pounds and where a size 2. in toddlers. okay, maybe not in toddlers, but you get what im saying, right?

reading this article reminded me of those movies where the not so popular guy has a serious love jones for the prettiest and/or popular girl in school, ends up getting with her and becomes someone different with her….only to realize his best buddy (who happens to be a girl) has loved him all along. just the way he is. celise loves those kinds of movies. personally, i do too.

the last time i wore a size 2 i probably was a toddler. and since ive started The Job and have been working out with Chief every sunday, ive slimmed down quite a bit. im a little chunky still. im not fat, im not overweight…im just a little big-boned, i think. i dont know what my biological parents looked like or their body-type history. its possible that i mightve gotten my figure from them. ill never know. but its nice to know that this guy “gets” it, saw it, and has appreciated unconventional beauty.

heres to hoping that guys will understand—eventually–that outer beauty really will fade. no matter how many times you pluck it, suck it, stuff it, inject it or cut it away.
